Amtran reports almost 30% revenue sequential drop for January 2010
Taiwan-based LCD TV maker Amtran Technology has posted revenues of NT$4.25 billion (US$132.41 million) for January 2010, down 29.52% sequentially from NT$6.04 billion in December, and down 7.04% on year from NT$4.58 billion, according to data from the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE).
The Company noted that the revenues decrease was mainly due to shortages of panel components.
LCD TV shipments were about 240,000 units in January, down 40% sequentially, of which large-size products accounted for 80% of total shipments, Amtran noted.
February shipments are expected to drop amid tight panel supply and fewer work days in the month, the company added.
Amtran is optimistic about its 2010 revenues as it expects to see good performance once panel supply stabilizes.
